Abysmal Thwaites suffer further embarrassment....
Thwaites FC's dwindling 5-a-side season brought yet further embarrassment
for the brewery team. They were hammered 8-3 in what turned out to be a
farce. Thwaites opponents Oggy FC stormed to a 3-0 lead after some ludicrous
defending. There was some hope for the brewery outfit as Simon Tipton scored
two spectacular goals to pull the scores back to 3-2.
However, some more pantomine-style defending and scandalous refereeing
enabled Oggy FC to extend their lead to 5-2 before half-time. Thwaites, who
had a strong team with 8 players turning out constantly made changes to the
team throughout with each player being substituted several times. However,
they were exposed time and time again with mediocre tackles and poor passing
letting them down.
The game was put well out of Thwaites reach after the break despite a goal
from manager Southworth. Oggy scored another 3 to keep Thwaites lying at the
bottom of the league table.
The brewery team are in action in the 7-a-side Company league tonight
against Iden FC. They will be looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat they
suffered earlier in the season. They can welcome back defender Damian
Tabbinor to the side as he missed last night's clash.
Match Ratings;
P.Slater 8 - Man of the Match. Could have easily been double figures if it
wasn't for a host of good saves.
D.Hopwood 6 - Enjoyed surges forward but like the rest of the team, caught
out at the back.
D.Logan 6 - Nice touches but mediocre defending
J.Hopwood 5 - Passing let him down. Lost his temper towards the end with a
series of dengerous challenges.
D.Southworth 5 - Under growing pressure to hand over the 5-a-side managerial
reigns.
S.Tormay 6 - Worked Hard - but to no avail.
S.Tipton 7 - Thwaites main threat. Like Hopwood , angry by the end. Scored
two great goals.
M.Slater 5 - Showboater. Needs to tackle back when he loses the ball.
Referee 3 - Awful, Clueless, Uriah Rennie-style performance constantly
blowing his whistle.
