Woeful Thwaites hit rock-bottom.....
Thwaites FC suffered their worst defeat of the season in the 7-a-side league
last night. They crashed to a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Marwill which
outlined just why they are facing relegation heartache for the first time in
their history. No excuses can be made as they were absolutely awful. The
passing let them down time and time again and defending non-existent as
Marwill strolled through Thwaites with ease.
The brewery side could not wait for the game to finish by the end as they
were embarrassed in front of a sell out crowd. Marwill were looking for
their tenth goal of the game with seconds left just after they had scored
their ninth. However, irate midfielder Jamie Hopwood stormed to take the
kick-off - he belted the ball out of play to waste time which deprived
Marwill of a 10-0 win.
Manager Dominic Southworth was taunted by the fans at the final whistle as
growing pressure turns his hair greyer and greyer. Thwaites take on
top-of-the-table AC Baracha on Sunday knowing that a defeat could cost
manager Southworth his job.
Match Ratings.
P.Slater 2 - Gave Up.
D.Tabbinor 2 - Playing through injury - worst performance in a Thwaites
shirt.
D.Southworth 2 - Questions need to be raised over his poor handling of team
affairs. No-one had a position.
J.Hopwood 2 - At fault for the second goal as he inexplicably lost
possession at the edge of the box. Has played better than this when he is
drunk.
P.Sankey 3 - Tried his best, however, not good enough against a rampant
Marwill side.
M.Slater 1 - Dreadful. Too casual - gave the ball away time and time again.
S.Tormay 2 - Poor.
