Thwaites crash to Acme....
 |
Thwaites FC were defeated again on Sunday in the 7-a-side league after
crashing to a 3-0 defeat against Acme. We are unable to give you a detailed
report as our reporter got very drunk on Sunday evening and he cannot
remember large chunks of the game.
The brewery side were 2-0 down by the break, however hardly deserved to be
losing as they played some immaculate football. Midfield maestro Jamie
Hopwood was impressive in the centre of midfield as he carved open the Acme
midfield several times. Hopwood, however is set to miss out on Thwaites two
games on Wednesday evening as he was pole-axed late in the game. The
jet-heeled midfielder raced forwards with the ball but he was kicked 6 foot
up in the air. Hopwood has a badly bruised ankle and a gashed knee. He will
join Damian Tabbinor on the sidelines as he has a rib injury which kept him
out of Sunday's encounter.
Dan Logan, who now seems to have put the stories of him being gay firmly
behind him had a solid game in defence with Southworth. Manager Southworth
was at fault for the first goal as he inadvertently passed the ball back to
keeper Slater to concede a penalty which set Acme on their way.
Despite Dominic Hopwood causing Acme all sorts of problems as he hit the
post twice and bar once Acme sealed their win with a third late on as keeper
Slater was unable to prevent a pin-point shot across goal. The brewery team
remain second from bottom of the table, just one point above P & B FC.
Match Ratings
P.Slater 7 - Had very little to do apart from pick the ball out from the
back of the Thwaites goal.
D.Logan 8 - Solid Performance
D.Southworth 8 - At fault for the first goal, made amends with several good
tackles.
S.Tormay 8 - Steady in the midfield engine room.
J.Hopwood 9 - Ran the show before being clattered. Slowly getting back to
the form we all know he is capable of.
S.Tipton 8 - Gave Acme cause for concern with his quick feet.
D.Hopwood 8 - Deserved a goal after hitting the woodwork on three occasions.
Referee: Wakefield 3 - Made some awful decisions, did not punish the Acme
player who clattered Hopwood. If the roles would have been reversed Hopwood
would surely have seen red. |
