Thwaites annihilated but is there light at the end of the tunnel
Thwaites FC were hammered 11-4 by 2nd placed Victoria Hotel last night at
the Bric. The brewery team stormed into a shock 3-1 lead with Dominic
Southworth grabbing a hat-trick but several defensive lapses and some awful
goalkeeping saw them defeated yet again. Victoria Hotel now remain hot on
the heels of leaders B & F FC who also won last night.
Defender Damian Tabbinor was man of the match for the brewery outfit with
some tough no-nonsense tackling as he put in a resolute display in a team
that crumbled around him. Even the introduction of Jamie Hopwood was little
to inspire Thwaites and they probably deserved to be beaten by more as
Victoria Hotel hit the woodwork 4 times.
However Thwaites can breathe a hugh sigh of relief as they moved off bottom
spot due to them scoring 4 goals which earned them a point. Bitter rivals
Craven VII and Akzo Nobel also slipped up which saw them move down a place
in the league.
The bottom 3 are as follows: -
Thwaites 6
Akzo Nobel 5
Craven VII 5
All three have one game remaining. Thwaites entertain Akzo on the last day
of the season and a win for either team would see them avoid relegation
heartbreak.
