Thwaites hit self destruct button...again!
Thwaites FC remain at the foot of the table as they suffered a 5-3 defeat at
the hands of The Punchbowl. Thwaites had taken an early lead from an
opportunist strike from Dominic Southworth. Punchbowl then scored 2 sloppy
goals to make the score 2-1 by the break despite Thwaites commanding most of
the half with Damian Tabbinor in inspired form putting in some fine tackles.
Thwaites soon equalised after the break only for Punchbowl to re-take the
lead at 3-2. Thwaites then levelled the scores yet again when midfield
dynamo Jamie Hopwood blasted home for the brewery team to make it 3-3.
However, from then on Thwaites looked tired and wayward and sloppy defending
led to Punchbowl storming into a 5-3 lead with DJ Martin Wyatt scoring the
pick of the goals for the visitors.
One bright aspect about last night was the decision by Bric officials to
allow Thwaites 3 points from last weeks furious encounter with Craven VII.
This means that Thwaites are now joint bottom with Craven and Akzo Fives.
However Thwaites have two games in hand on Akzo and if they were to win
these games it would steer them away from any relegation fears.
