Thwaites hoping to bounce back
Thwaites FC are in action tonight and are looking to bounce back after 3
consecutive defeats. Despite a bright start to the new season, with two
excellent victories in the 7-a-side league and a 4-4 draw in the 5-a-side
league which led to a win following two players being dismissed for Magpies
it has all turned sour in recent weeks. The brewery team suffered a 7-2
embarrasment last week at the hands of Lookers followed by two 7-a-side
defeats, the most recent last Sunday when they were beaten 3-0 against
Witton Wanderers.
Thwaites must pick themselves up this week and the level of performance must
improve with a dramatic turnaround tonight. They must then get back into the
championship race at 7-a-side level against Marwill 'B' on Sunday in what
should be a blistering encounter
Midfield maestro Jamie Hopwood is struggling to make tonights clash as he
has a bad back injury. He may get the chance of undergoing a late fitness
test after doing some light training this morning. Carl Elmer and Mark
Slater return from their gay camping holiday and Dominic Southworth, Simon
Tipton and Gary Targett return from a short break in Bangor, North Wales.
Sean Tormay should also be available for the brewery giants along with
defender Damian Tabbinor who has escaped the rap from the Thwaites board of
directors following the curry house incident in Blackburn town centre two
weeks ago.
The board have also refused to comment on suggestions that Tabbinor and
colleague Jamie Hopwood were sent on a scouting mission to Highbury at the
weekend. The pair thought to be looking at French duo Thierry Henry and
Robert Pires who would further bolster their already large squad of players.
However they confimed reports from the News of the World newspaper that
Tabbinor and Hopwood were very very drunk by the time they arrived back in
Lancashire following the excessive amount of alcohol they both consumed on
the train.
Thwaites choose from: - Southworth, Tabbinor, Tipton, Slater, Elmer, Tormay,
Hopwood, Targett.
