Thwaites Suffer Double Blow!
Thwaites FC continued their poor form in the Sunday 7-a-side league
yesterday after being beaten in twice in their two games against top of the
league Real Leyburn and 3rd placed Brewers FC.
Thwaites put in a resolute display against the league leaders despite losing
the encounter 3-1. Goalkeeper Gary Targett showed why he is Thwaites Number
one after some fine saves. Midfielder Carl Elmer put in a below average
performance and he started the game late as he attempted to find some shorts
before entering the field of play.
It was a more devasting defeat in the second game as Brewers romped home to
record a 4-0 win. The referee seemed to give all the decisions in the
Brewers favour. This led to Thwaites defender Damian Tabbinor seeing red for
foul and abusive language after an obvious free-kick was not awarded. He was
ordered off for 2 minutes to calm down and his on-looking wife Liz seemed
shocked.
Thwaites must now pick themselves up for the two games they have this week
as the season draws to a close. Thwaites must surely find a get-out-of-jail
style winning run to avoid relegation heartbreak |
