Hopwood signs new deal and then launches battlecry!
Thwaites midfield maestro Jamie Hopwood today signed a new deal with the
brewery team and then urged his team mates to show the same level of
performance as they did in Sundays excellent 2-1 victory over S & W FC.
Hopwood put pen to paper on a five year deal which should earn him around 2
million pounds. He is said to be delighted with the deal and told the press
how much he loved the club. 'This is a great deal for me. I love the club
and I think that this is the best season we have ever had at Thwaites,
especially in the five-a-side league. Gary (Targett) came under-fire early
on and despite me and him not getting on very well at first it's all behind
us now. He's done a great job. I'm sure I'm speaking on behalf of every
player when I say that I hope he recovers from his illness soon. Now we must
put in the same level of performance every week starting this Wednesday if
we are to win the league'
Hopwood has been subject to transfer speculation recently with Real Madrid,
Barcelona and Ajax all enquiring about the midfield dynamo. He put in a good
performance on Sunday, setting up both goals for the brewery team in front
of on-looking England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
It is now almost certain that fellow team mate Damian Tabbinor is set to put
pen to paper on a lucrative deal. Tabbinor is thought to have healed his
rift with the Thwaites hierarchy and is now looking to extend his current
deal. The board of directors will have to be quick however, with Juventus,
Inter Milan and Mansfield all hot on the tail of the tough-tackling
defender.
Sunday's on-loan goal-keeper Paul Slater is also set to sign a permanent
deal with the brewery giants after impressing in Sunday's display. He was at
fault for the S & W goal, however pulled off some great saves.
