Brass Band Brilliance

Sunday June 15th saw a brilliant display of music and community spirit, on the back lawn of Towneley Park, when Stacksteads Brass Band entertained people of all ages in the afternoon sunshine.

The event was planned by Burnley Borough Council, through Andy Buck, in conjunction with the Friends of Towneley Park who raised over £200 through the sale of refreshments, and donations. Thank you to all those who contributed.

The Stacksteads Band were a resounding success, with their amazing soloists and varied, high quality, technical programme. Thank you to all those who took part.

The Shuttle bus was in regular use and the Riverside and Hall carparks were almost full to capacity. The bench seats around the Hall were full, and extra chairs had been placed on the lawn, but people still brought their own rugs and chairs to sit out and enjoy the experience with at least 200 people watching at any one time and many more passing through the park during the free performance.

All in all, the afternoon provided a wonderful community event and a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all.
