New members wanted for Sept 04 Yeomen of the Guard
After a successful two year spell at the Rudolf Steiner Theatre, award winning Abbots Langley Gilbert & Sullivan Society will be returning to their spiritual home (Watford Palace Theatre) for their 2005 show (14-19th February).
Following the success of ‘Iolanthe’, the next production will be the darkest and the most dramatic of the G&S opera’s; ‘The Yeomen of the Guard’. Set in medieval times at the Tower of London, it is a tale which does not have the traditional G&S happy ending, rather one of heartbreak and despair. Set against a backdrop of wonderful music, it is a real treat and is not to be missed.
If you fancy donning the traditional red livery of a Beefeater or of being a village maid, ALGSS are holding an open evening for prospective members at 7.45pm on Monday, 13th September at the Methodist Hall in Abbots Langley. Membership Secretary, Jonquil Willcock, will be on hand to welcome you and you will have a chance to chat to members over coffee, as well as joining in with the singing. You don’t have to be an experienced performer; enthusiasm and a sense of humour are more important attributes!
