from childhood John was an avid pencil artist. This developed some 30 years ago into oils and subsequently into watercolors.
John has won the prestigious "European Arts Commission Award" for painting and has appeared on the BBC and also channel 4's programme "Watercolor Challenge". His paintings have been exhibited in Belfast, Dublin and in the mall gallery London. Today his paintings increasingly adorn collector's homes not just within Ireland but also as far afield as USA and Australia.
John's latest work "Irish folk Art" comes from his love of people and bright colors. The paintings of musicians are of people he has met on his painting trips around Ireland both north and south. He decided to paint these musicians to add some color to his show of prints of traditional Irish landscapes. They have proved very popular indeed.
