Welcome to Chandos Choir!
About the Choir
The Chandos Choir is one of the older established choirs in the South London/N Surrey area and was formed over 57 years ago. (Legend has it, we were formed in a disused or derelict cowshed..) With members' ages ranging from 30 to 80, we are a lively and friendly choir, and we are OPEN for new members to join us in all voice-parts. Please do try us out (we are friendly and do not bite!) We have a membership of about 30 at present, and would like to increase so that we can sing more larger choral works. Our conductor is the excellent Robert Randall. We do not have auditions, but request that members are reasonably good at sight-reading. We meet at Coulsdon Methodist Church Hall, Brighton Road, Coulsdon on MONDAY evenings at 7.45pm, closing at 9.50pm with a break for coffee (and cakes) part-way through. If you have any queries please email chandoschoir@aol.com, phone Secretary Rosey Wooldridge on 020 8669 3824, or just come along! We are also listed on the Gerontius.net choral web portal (www.gerontius.net) Previous works include: Handel's Coronation Anthems, Poulenc Gloria, Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise, Byrd's Mass for Four Voices; Beethoven Mass in C; Palestrina, Puccini, Parry's I Was Glad & Blest Pair of Sirens, Mozart, Brahms, Chilcott, Fauré. Please visit the rest of the website for forthcoming EVENTS and concerts, and for more details. We have a new website now - www.chandoschoir.com where you can safely purchase tickets through Paypal, for credit and debit card payment. |
