The Mildmay Hospital Site is the area bounded by Hackney Road, Columbia Road, Austin Street and the housing off Gascoigne Place.
The Tabernacle Church also occupies this site and is part of the project group proposing the development. The charity Crisis is proposing to run the intermediate housing element.
The architects are FieldenClegg. The site falls in Tower Hamlets and borders with Hackney. Adjacent to the site is St Leonards Church and the South Shoreditch Conservation Area and The Kingsland Road Conservation Area.
The full set of documents is only available to view at 41-47 Bow Road - Tower Hamlets planning office.
The current proposal that has been submitted for planning approval contains the following elements;
i. All buildings with the exception of the listed hall will be demolished
ii. Block E : a 23 storey residential tower block containing one bedroom flats and some communal facilites
iii. Block F: A 4 storey hospital unit and detox unit
iv. Block A: new church hall and facilities with retail space to hackney road, 5 and 6 storey.
v. Block B: A 5 storey building with offices and residential units.
vi. Block C: A 6 storey building with primary care centre and residential units
vii. Block D: 5 no. town houses with adjoining commercial premises
