Deep to Deep - Introduction
 Deep to Deep is an irregular and informal gathering for Christian bassists in the UK.
It has been running since November 1997 and meetings have been organised around both bass playing and food!

Why 'Deep to Deep'?
The first event we ran wasn't called anything at all, but we felt that it was worth repeating and giving some identity.
It was a bit like finding a name for a band - we wanted something to identify 'us', without being too pretentious.
Somebody mentioned a verse from the Bible:
Deep calls to deep at the sound of Thy waterfalls(Psalm 42:7)
and that seemed to fit.
Don't worry - I know that in the original context the passage is not talking about bass playing get-togethers, but the image of 'Deep to Deep' seemed to work.
Let's gather together round our common interest in a bass instrument and our common commitment to Jesus; let's hear the deep sounds of our instruments calling to each other - and also let the deep things of God, such as love and peace, be spoken right down to the core of our foundation. |
