HARDY FUCHSIA LIST
 | Below is shown the ‘Hardy’ list, as compiled by the British Fuchsia Society. This list replaces all previous lists and is for show purposes only. The BFS state that this does not necessarily mean that the fuchsias listed will survive, when left in the ground, through every winter, in every corner of the United Kingdom.
NOTE: Any cultivar suggested by the BFS for the Hardy List must have survived at least five consecutive winters and begun to flower in July or early August. It should also be noted that plants are only considered as ‘hardy’ when they are planted in the ground. Plants in tubs or containers, even if shown on this list, may not survive a winter particularly if it is severe. Many fuchsias, even those not shown as hardy, may survive in a mild winter. Hardy varieties of fuchsia should be planted in the ground at the beginning of June. They should be in at least a five inch pot with a good root system. It is also considered by some an advantage to remove all blooms in the first year, to give the roots a better chance of development.
