At one of the recent monthly talks, which was given by Bill Wye of Chelmsford, he mentioned that he had in his greenhouse a Pinguicula (common name Butterwort) which is a carnivorous plant that he used to control whitefly and scariad fly (fungus gnats). The plant has fleshy, sticky leaves, and these pests once stuck are slowly digested. South West Carnivorous Plants supply Pinguicula's that are suitable for the greenhouse, and varieties that are hardy and can be used in the garden. They also have a large range of other carnivorous plants. |
