SHOWS PERFORMED 2007
This year was a busy one with many shows.
In April, a large group entertained a group of disabled people and their carers. We performed Mexican and Spanish dances in costume and invited everyone to join in with a workshop dance led by Jacqui. The evening went well and we all had fun.
In May, Some of the members performed Mexican dances for St John’s church in Waterloo. It was very well received and danced.
In June, We performed our yearly show at St Mary’s in Islington. As well as dances from Spain and Mexico, we gave two workshops – a Mexican dance with Jacqui and a conga from Cuba with Elsa. Both had plenty of people eager to join in. The Proteas group from South Africa, danced in between while we changed costumes.
In July, We danced two shows, the first one at the Camden Summer Festival at the Shaw theatre. The second show was for the Swiss Cottage Festival. This year they requested Mexican dances, which were performed outside in the open space.
In August, We performed again at the Capital Age Festival on the South Bank. As well as our Spanish show on the stage, some of us joined in the procession at the beginning dancing the conga.
In October, The yearly event of “Dance Around the World” took place at Cecil Sharp house. This year we danced Spanish. Elsa gave workshops.
In December, some of the members took part in a show for Hammersmith Age concern. They were given food afterwards. Also in December, the group performed at Lillian Baylis theatre, which is part of Sadler’s Wells. |
