IN THE BEGINNING

The Iberian Folk Dance and Music Society (affiliated to SIFD) now known as The Iberian Folk Dancers, was formed in 1985 to keep alive Traditional Spanish and Portuguese Dances from the past, collected by Lucille Armstong, to dances of the present. Many new dances have since been added to the repertoire. In the beginning, most of the costumes were researched and made by June Cole. Over the years we have had people from many different countries, who have taken part in the shows. The group provided an opportunity for people to dance and perform that may not have been able to do so in the past.
