LUCILE ARMSTRONG
 | | Lucile was an authority on Spanish and Portuguese folk dance. Having lived in Spain and Portugal for many years, she collected hundreds of dances, which she brought back to England to teach. Lucile was an adjudicator for folk dance at the Eisteddfod festival. Lucile died in 1988 |

JUANITA MARTIN
Juanita who was half Spanish half English, was a student of Lucile for many years, and later started her own groups. She was an excellent organiser, always wanting to get people together. Juanita created The Iberian Folk Dance & Music Society in the early 1980’s. The idea was to keep alive Lucile’s many dances and perform them for local festivals. Juanita died in 2000. |
MARION MORRIS
Marion, who was originally from Russia, came to this country as a child with her parents. She loved folk dancing and her cats. Marion was a keen member of the SIFD and attended many of their dances. She danced in all the Iberian shows and became secretary for the group. Marion put a lot of time and energy into keeping things running smoothly. Marion died in 2000. |
JOAN TAGG
Joan had been a fan of Spanish dance most of her life. She was a student of Lucile in the early days. Joan joined the Iberian group in the 1980’s and took part in all of the shows. She was a keen dressmaker and made many of her own costumes. Joan died in 2007. |
SETSUKO STEVENS
One of the original members of the group, Setzuko came to live and work in London 30 years ago. She was an elegant dancer full of grace and style, Stetzuko danced in many of our shows. As well as performing the folklore repertoire, she danced several of her own flamenco solos. Setzuko died after a short illness in January 2008. |
