Are you interested in joining a new walking group?

In February 2002, we formed

a new walking group

as part of the Ramblers' Association,

but with the emphasis on short walks of approximately 4 miles.

Lea Valley Friends

consists of people who enjoy walking in the countryside, forest, country parks, canal and river towpaths and London, with other like-minded people. We welcome anyone of any age, providing they are able to walk four miles and negotiate stiles etc. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. (Not suitable for buggies). Sorry -dogs are not welcome. Our walks usually start at 10.30am, and finish between 12.30 and 1pm.

Most of our Walks' Programme is available on this site. If you want any further information, please email us through Communigate. Once you have been on two or three of our walks, and if they suit you, you will need to join the Ramblers' Association. This will entitle you to copies of our walks' programmes for a whole year, details of other events, editions of the Ramblers' magazine, and a discount in certain outdoor clothing and walking boot shops.
You will also be supporting the Ramblers' Association in their work to preserve footpaths for the benefit of everyone.

If you join on line on the Ramblers' Association website, or by phone, please specify that you wish to join the Lea Valley Friends Group (specializing in short four mile walks).
www.ramblers.org.uk

In the meantime please see our Events calendar for a few of our planned walks that you are welcome to come and try. Please wear suitable footwear, walking boots or wellingtons if it has been wet. Arrive in good time to find the meeting place for the walk, park your car, and change your footwear, because walks always start punctually.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

We have only been going for six years (one of the newest groups in Essex) so we are always looking for new leaders. If you are a member of the Ramblers' Association and are no longer able to lead long walks, but would like to lead a two hour walk for us - even once a year, please email us for details. If you have never lead before, but would like to try, then please ask for details. Our walks are on Saturday or Sunday mornings.

Thank you!
