London Underground Internal Audit Alumni

I used to work for the Underground. Ain't that sad?

Did you work for Colin Harrison at London Underground Ltd's Internal Audit department in the early-to-mid 1990s?

Remember these great characters? Did you ever work with any of them?

Nick King
Bonehead
Bomber
Rodney & Chris
Dickie Bird
Mario
Johnny Attitude Problem
Macro-Man (previously known as Rucksack-Man)
Gravedigger

Have you got happy memories of days in Grosvenor Gardens, near Victoria Station? Or of Broadway? Friday evening drinks at the Plumbers Arms, with Colin?

Did you ever tackle the "chocolate machine" audit? (you knew if you were assigned that one, it was the end of your career there!)

Remember those great "Revenue Days"? When we all had to wear an orange hi-vi waistcoat?

Speaking of oranges, do you remember how we were not allowed to eat them in the office?

Remember when the phones were changed so as not to allow an outside line to be called - to stop staff from calling recruitment agencies?

Did you ever take any Health and Safety training courses? Remember George from DNV? Did you take the British Safety Council's diploma in safety management at the Royal Masonic Hospital in Hammersmith? Remember James Tye (died 1996)?

Some of you probably want to keep pretty quiet about having worked there, but if you're man enough to own up to it, leave your reminiscences in the Guest Book! (Keep it clean. And remember the laws of libel.)

[note added 5 December 2004] It was good to see Tim Graham a few weeks ago, at the ICAEW roadshow.

[note added 28 September 2005] Nice to see that George is now involved in Logistics for the US Army.
