Merton Art Society is an art group which meets in Merton on the first or second Tuesday of each month (check website for dates) for talks, practical sessions and critique sessions. It also exhibits twice a year. Everyone is welcome (complete beginners, painters and non-painters).
* Demonstrations
The group watches demonstrations from professional demonstrators highlighting different aspects of painting, such as landscapes, portraits, water colours, oil painting, acrylics, mixed media or pastels.
* Practical Sessions
Bring along pencil and paper or other portable materials for a session of sketching or painting.
* Critique Sessions
We have occasional professional critique sessions. These sessions have been found very useful by group members for improving their pictures. Members bring a picture (preferably framed) and the professional artist makes practical suggestions as to what they might have done differently.
