Residents form Committee to Fight Insensitive Development

Multiple planning applications by Linden Homes
A meeting of local residents on the 13th June 2003 decided to establish a committee to deal with the threat to the character, environment, and amenity of the Woodfiled Hill, Woodfield Close and Hollymeoak Road;in the light of an onslaught by the property developer Linden Homes The area in question is just on the border of Reigate and Banstead withLondon Borough of Croydon.
There have been 6 separate major planning applications since October 2002 and Residents are;now facing a Public Enquiry following the Councils unanimous decision to refuse planning permission for the first two applications As if that was not enough rumours are rife yet more development is planned for the area
The character of the area is defined by tree lined roads with a semi rural feel.
However, over 80% of the 130 trees on site, vast amounts of mature vegetation, wildlife3 ponds and protected species will be lost along with the character of the area if Linden get away with it.

The loss of so many trees will surely look like a scar on the wooded hillside from across the valley
Enough have been lost to make way for the Coulsdon Relief Road.

This attack on the area affects everyone not just those in the immediate area
Just think of the extra competition for school places, or the extra wait to see your GP(if you can get one), and the increased traffic and pollution and the effect on the area.

This kind of creeping development will ruin the character of the area, and harm the environment in the process
It will set a dangerous precedent for further development at high density and introduce developments with blocks of flats in the Chipstead Village area.

Residents Against Insensitive Development is committed to making sure it doesn’t happen.
