Somali Poverty Relief and Rural Development Organisation
 | Primary school children at Jimbley Town, South Central Somalia. This is one of the schools we support. This school would not be functioning without your support. Please help these children.
SPRRDO is a charitable organization registered in England.Charity Number: 1078210. This charity was set up out of passion for the suffering of the Somali people in general, specially the elderly, children and women who are suffering but have little say of what is going on in Somalia. The objectives of the charity are as follows: To carry out rehabilitation work such as: - Community Health Programmes (Clinics) - Water and Sanitation programmes - Educational Programmes - Agricultural Programmes (seeds, tools etc.) - Supplementary Feeding
Other implied objectives of this organisation are: 1.To promote market economy and social enterprise 2.To promote accountability in governance and foster a culture where individual members of the society are valued and their rights protected. 3. To promote the concept of individual accountability for the collective wellbeing of the society as a whole.
For a country to exist and function, the citizens of that country must have the most basic necessities of human life: 1. Food and clean water 2. Roof over their head 3. Basic health care 4. Internal security to feel safe
If the first three needs of the population are met, then internal security will come naturally. If a man goes hungry or he does not have a dwelling, then he will use whatever means at his disposal to meet these needs. This is the cause of most internal conflicts and this is precisely what is happening in Somalia now and in many countries in Africa and around the world. Hence security is not the disease rather the symptom. For a future government to be able to establish security, it must tackle the root causes of poverty which is the real reason of instability in Somalia. For far too long, Somalia was governed by generals and tribal chiefs who had no education in economics and development and the governance of this country is still following the same path. Hence it will be a real challenge for the educated folks and scholars to get their feet into the door. Another very important element that often causes civil wars is injustice. The citizens of a nation must be reasonably content that the judicial system is fault proof and that in their eyes, all citizens are treated equal in the justice system of the country. Another necessity which is still illusive to many citizens of the developing world is education. For many nations education has proven to be the cure to many of their ailments. Education is a tool for development and is universal but the use of it has to be modeled to the area or country which it is applied on. This means that the educational system of a country has to take into account the particular needs of that country. |
