St Peter's Church Choir
St Peter’s Church Choir is well known for its high standards and wide choral output. The choir of children, aged 8+, and adults sing two services at St Peter’s each week and regularly sing at Cathedrals. Members of the choir who play instruments are encouraged to accompany services from time to time.
In August 2007, the choir visited Durham Cathedral to sing the services for a week. In August 2008 the choir will be singing at Lincoln Cathedral.
The church organ is a fine four manual William Hill & Son instrument dating from 1870 and enlarged in 1903 by the Hill firm. More details about the organ can be found under the The Organ section.
Children in the choir are offered tuition, both with their voices and music theory. The adults enjoy the social side of singing in a local choir. The commitment of time and energy which is required for membership of the choir is amply rewarded by the development of a facility and skill that will provide a lasting source of enjoyment.
The choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music.
