ARMISTICE COMMEMORATION DAY
TUESDAY, 27th. JULY 2004
AT
THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL, STAFFORDSHIREThe National Council of the BKVA wishes to notify all Branches and invite members and their families and friends to the Service, Parade and Gathering at the NMA on Tuesday 27th July 04. This will be the BKVA’s main Commemoration service of the year.
THE DAY’S PROGRAMME:
1000 – 1630: Gallery Room – tea, coffee and fruit squash available all day ‘on the house’;
1100 – 1110: Chapel – The NMA’s daily Eleventh Hour Service of Remembrance;
1130 – 1155: Amphitheater outside the Chapel – band concert:
1200 – 1230: Chapel & Amphitheater – BKVA Memorial Service; retiring collection for the NMA tree fund.
1240 – 1255: Millennium Avenue – parade and march with the band up Giffard Ave: to the BKVA Garden.
1300 – 1320: BKVA Garden – short Service and Wreath laying.
1330 – 1400: Yeomanry Ave: - Parade and March Past; return to Millennium Ave: and dismiss.
1400 - LUNCH – bring you own picnics, or have a meal in the Visitors Center Restaurant.
1400 – 1630: Gallery Room – a cash bar for draught beer will now operate’
1430 – 1530: Guided tours by Friends of the Arboretum;
Tour 1. RN Review, Merchant Service Convoy, WRNS, Y-Group. ¾ mile
Tour 2. The Beat, Golden Grove and Shot at Dawn. ¾ mile
Tour 3. Gallipoli, RNLI and Ulster Memorials. ¾ mile
Tour 4.Army, RAF, UN Spiral, The Polar Bear. ½ mile
Tour 5. Burma and Sumatra Railways, FEPO, Dogra and Baluchs. ¾ Mile.
All tours meet and return to The National Service Memorial on
Millennium Ave: the distances quoted are approximate.
1530 – 1630: Gallery Room – assortment of biscuits to go with tea.
1645 – 1655: Farewells.
The Arboretum Closes.
The event is being organised by NKVA members from the East and West Midlands.
