Waltham Forest Bonsai Club

The club was founded in 1981 by Valerie Butcher & Edna Crutchlow. Club meetings are held once a month throughout the year and provide lectures, workshops and demonstrations on the art of Bonsai. These range from the very basics to more advanced techniques and therefore cater for all levels of experience. A comprehensive library is available of books, periodicals and videos on the subject of Bonsai.

Various competitions and shows are held during the year. Members usually bring in trees for discussion and display at the club meetings, and by informal discussions with other more experienced growers much can be learnt that is often not covered in books. In addition to the normal club meeting there is a monthly beginners workshop which is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month. Beginners may take any material to these sessions that they wish to work on, or require advice on. There are usually several outings during the year to Gardens, Bonsai Nurseries and Garden centres.The club is a founder member of the Federation of British Bonsai Societies.
