Visit to the ROK Chungmugong Yi Sunshin
About 70 Korean Veterans were invited to be guests of the Republic of Korea Navy in Portsmouth on 26th July 2005 and go aboard the Chungmugong Yi Sunshin warship. The ship was taking part in the Trafalgar 200 years celebrations along with about 160 other ships from all nations. The day was really fantastic as we were treated to a very good display of rifle drill, several speeches and presentations, a fine lunch, followed by a tour of the ship and finally a concert by an excellent band and singers. The whole crew treated us with utmost respect (as the Koreans always do) and all agreed that the day was probably the most remarkable we had spent with our dear friends the Korean nation. |
