14th Darlington Scouts Who Are We & What Do We do?
Name: 14th Darlington Scout Troop
Address: St.Andrew's grounds, Darlington, England
Scout Leader: Stuart White
There are about 20 Scouts in our troop (14th Darlington Scout Troop) all, which are boys and 5 leaders/helpers who are also male (I think!)
We meet at the Scout Centre, weekly, on Friday nights 7:15pm until 9:15pm where we play rough, noisy games or if the weathers ok then we go down to the local field and have a game, normally football.
We sometimes go swimming, bowling or the cinema also.
We do a few badges; - Athletics, Sport Enthusiast, Swimming, Survival badge which is where you need to survive in a forest for a night.
You are only allowed to use the things around you. No watches allowed use the sun. No foods allowed use the plants and animals around you. No tent allowed, build one out of wood and leaves.
It is great fun but you do just wish you had some choccie biccies sometimes!
We do other badges but I don’t really want to bore you with them all!
We go camping at some weekends and go on a weekly Summer Camp in August. Camps are great fun we get to do some great things, its not everyday you get to climb down a mountain, float down rivers and waterfalls or get dragged behind a speedboat at 70mph sitting on a rubber doughnut!
Most people tend to take the mick out of Scouts but what is sad about the things we do?
By the way, to clear any confusion anyone has we wear jogging bottoms, trainers, a T-shirt and a Necker.
No caps, frilly socks or shorts, thanks, we're not Brownies!
Fancy joining a Scout Troop near you?
I can't guarantee it'll be as good as ours but give it a go I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
