Small Bore Shooting Competition Winners
 | Four cadets from 1507 Sqn have hit the target in the latest NorSatt Small Bore Shooting Competition which was held in December 2005. The Squadron gained 1st and 2nd place in the individual medals together with a fantastic third place in the group totals missing out on second place by only 2 points. Well done to Corporal Danielle Hunt (1st place 93 points), Corporal Chris Oliver (2nd place 89 points), Corporal Ryan Nelson (14th place) and Cadet Lauren Fiddes (36th Place).
The competition was open to the whole of the North Region covering the North east, North West, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Manchester. |

Inter Squadron Skill at Arms 2005
Four cadets of 1507 Sqn attained 2nd place in the new Inter Squadron Full Bore Shooting Competition held at RAF Boulmer.
Corporal Ryan Skeoch, Corporal Ryan Nelson, Corporal Chris Oliver and Corporal Danielle Hunt made up the team to shoot against the other 35 Squadrons in the Durham Northumberland Wing. Certificates were presented by the organiser of the event Flight Lieutenant Andy Brooks.

Police Visit
 Cadets get locked up!
This time for good behaviour! As part of the drugs awareness talk given by Durham Constabulary last night, 20 cadets were given a guided tour of Chester-le-Street Police Station cells.
PC Karen Hall, Community Liaison Officer, was kind enough to give a presentation to the Squadron on the effects of the miss-use drugs and alcohol together with the legal implications of getting caught being in possession. As part of the event PC Hall organised a visit to the local police station starting with a role-play arrest. The cadets were transported to the police station and taken through the process of being formally detained including finger prints and a tour of the cells. With too many stories about youths being involved with drugs and hanging on street corners, this is a chance to show the cadets what would happen and to dissuade them from temptation.
“As part of the Air Training Corps Citizenship training Drug Awareness talks are carried out on an annual basis. This type of presentation hits home far better than the old fashioned ‘these are drugs – just say no!’. The cadets were surprised at the basic conditions that a police cell has to offer.” Ian Bowden, Civilian Instructor.
