What is the Advance + programme?
The Advance + programme is essentially a work preparation programme which aims to help individuals to develop the skills they need to find and maintain paid employment.
Advance + is joint funded by Morrison Enterprise Trust and Darlington Borough Council.
The programme has been designed to assist individuals with a learning disability by looking at the skills required in the workplace. Particular emphasis is focused on communication and employability skills highlighting the skills a person may need to make them more employable.
The programme takes individuals through a series of activities and assignments which will help towards preparation for employment.
Advance + is an accredited programme; it has been approved by Open College Network North East Region (OCCNER) Individuals receive a nationally recognised certificate to add to their CVs which will be recognised by employers.
The programme comprises five units which can be achieved as either stand-alone units, which is useful if an individual finds a job part way through the programme, or the completion of all five units which gets an individual a full set of credits with their certificate.
