1935

The photograph was taken in 1935.

(I think), the house is my Auntie Mealie's in what was Alma Parade, apparently it was the original Police Station for Redcar.

The occasion was the birthday of Mealie's son, Arthur. He is the young boy in uniform in the centre behind my Gran.
The picture includes many relatives and in-laws. My father (Carl Temke ) is the tall man on the left, and my mother (RoseTemke) is seated at the right hand end of the front row.

1940s - 1960s

Mrs Pegg was a pleasant lady who ived for many years in a little cottage near to the Royal Hotel. do you remember Dolly? If so I would like to hear from you.
Sheila

1920s

This is a photo taken, during I would think the 1920`s when work was hard to come by . I remember my mother said that my dad use to find a job working on road repair .Robert Cockfield, my dad is second from right holding a bucket. The road looks a little different today but it is between Kirkleatham & Lazenby.
At this time my family lived in Yearby, my dad would walk across the fields to Lazenby for a few pints in the Half Moon which was the nearest pub.

1930s _ 40s

This is a photo of my maternal grandparents Mr & Mrs Joseph Hide taken near what looks like Redcar station , late 1930`s or sometime during the 1940`s.They had a Barber & newsagents shop between Ellison's & The Royal Standard pub until 1953 when my grandmother died. My granddad died 1951.
I remember when I went for my haircut I would watch my two uncles Billy & Nelson Hide giving customers wet shaves with a cut throat razor & if they were bald on top a singe with a lighted taper & then a polish to finish off.
David Cockfield
