CIA Certificate - Hazel Florence Day (Nee Howe)

Chief Inspector of Armaments (CIA) certificate belonging to Hazel Florence Howe dated 5th January 1942 to 25th August 1945.

It reads...

"To Hazel Florence Howe on the occasion of your leaving the Department of the Chief Inspector of Armaments, Ammunition, I wish to express my thanks to you for the essential service you have rendered the country whilst employed here from 5th January 1942 to 25th August 1945 and to extend to you the good wishes of the Department for your future well-being."


Off Contact Slip - Eric Welsh

Eric Welsh's Off Contact slip dated 1944

This is a copy of a card issued to Eric Welsh when he worked at Aycliffe. He was only 14 years old at the time and was not allowed to work with any of the highly toxic and explosive materials such as TNT, CE powder, Fulminate, Lead Azide etc.

Eric is pictured to the left, with members of the Entertainments Department at Aycliffe during the 1940s.
