Welcome to Barningham

Barningham is a small picturesque village situated on the edge of Barningham Moor on the north facing slopes of the Yorkshire Dales. It is 6 miles from Barnard Castle and 8 from Richmond.
The village consists of some 70 houses a church, pub, and the village hall.

Barningham Park has been in the Milbank family for over 300 years and at the moment is the home of Sir Anthony and Lady Milbank. The gardens are opened to the public several times during the year as part of the National Gardens scheme. The local Village Fete is also held in the grounds each year.

Buildings of note

Newby House formerly Barningham Academy

The Reading Rooms - now 3 cottages.

The Wesleyan Chapel

The Village Hall which was once the Village School - see links for further details.

There is a very intesting book on the history of Barningham by J. Merryne Watson called 'As Time Passed By'
