Hunting Etiquette

Mounted Field

Courtesy and good manners are required at all times, even if you may be feeling rather nervous.

We Hunt entirely due to the goodwill of the people who own and farm the land in our Hunt country. If somebody holds a gate open for you, please remember to say thank you.

Thoughtful behaviour towards traffic, which may well have nothing to do with the Hunt, always creates a good impression. Thoughtless behaviour damages our cause and reputation. Let the traffic through, and thank drivers for slowing down.

Damage can cause a lot of problems for the Hunt. Please do not fail to report any damage to the Hunt Secretary or the Field Master, Mary Tweddle or Peter Patrick. Please arrive at the meet on time and correctly dressed.

Parking
Please be very careful when choosing where to park. Avoid blocking gates and driveways, damaging mown verges, and obstructing traffic. Importantly, please do not park near covers, and particularly not near jumps, gates or field entrances.

Gate Shutting
There will be a roster again this season. Dress is tidy "Ratcatcher" with sash, which should be returned to the Field Master after 3.Opm.
Please report any damage to the Secretary, the Field Master, or the fence mender, Edward Hollins.

General

Ringing Kennels
Please do not ring before 8.30am and always identify yourself clearly, regardless of the reason for calling.

Point-to-Point Qualifiers
Hunting Days qualify from October 1', as long as they are "mobile" days, The Secretary has books of certificates.

Hunt Saboteurs
The advice remains the same - please take photographs or video tape if possible. On no account show any anger, however much provoked. Report any trouble to the secretary or the Masters.

Car Followers

Other motorists form a poor impression of hunting if their way is blocked. Please be thoughtful when you stop or park. Also turn engines off when hounds are near - exhaust fumes are unhelpful up hounds' noses.
