Gone are the days when obtaining your medical records was up to the whim of the department concerned!
Since the Data protection Act came into force everyone has right to see any information written about them
This includes medical records, however it is normal for departments/organisations to charge an administration fee.
This is because the documents have to be scrutinised and enable information that might breach the act, to be removed. Access to your records should normally be given within forty days.
If access is not granted after this period then the Information officer should be contacted Tel (01625)545745.
