Are people disabled?
I have been prompted to write this particularly from a 'particularly correct' perspective.
Disabled people when used in medical terminology mean people have difficulty in doing things.
However, when used out of the medical sphere its use borders on the insulting, to disable something is to neutralise it, make it incapable of any action.
People are not disabled, they have feeling, thoughts, views, senses, they might have a disability that interferes with certain functions, but surely they are not a lesser person than someone who has not got a disabilty] or are they?
We would be grateful to hear what you think about the use of the term "Disabled People"
Is it offensive?
Are people disabled or do they have a physical/sensory difculty or impairment.
