 | This postcard dated 1906 kindly contributed by Colin Narramore shows the school on Station Road looking down towards the crossroads.
A school has existed on this site since 1840. The original school was taken over as a board school in 1870 and then enlarged.
This school was in use until it was demolished in 1974 and replaced by the present one.

Left to right (from front to rear and around the table)
No-name, Jimmy Robinson(Clarty), Brian Hood, No name, No name, Barbara Winn, Esme Kirkbride, Shirley Taylor, Maureen Wynn, twin Jennifer Kirkbride, Frances Baines at end leaning forward, Reggie Baines centre rear between 2 unknown children behind.
Over to right of table, far end, tallest girl is Glennis Taylor, no-name behind her, noname in front of her, no-name with white head dress, one unknown head on table, Cecil Blenkinsop, Susan Walker's sister with arm on back of chair, 4 not known, Kathleen Flowers on right with dark hair and ribbon, unknown facing the other way, Arthur (Rocker) Robinson smiling at front right.
Adults at far end, unknown other than Eric Cansfield centre seated.

Irish soldiers at Brompton School 1915
 | This picture shows soldiers of the First World War who were billeted at the old Brompton School. The Regiment is unknown however it is believed they were billetted here prior to leaving for the front.Note how young the majority appear to be.
There are a couple of civilian men on the photo, perhaps they were the caretakers of the school? Any information is welcome..

These prettily dressed girls were obviously dressed for some special occasion in 1922. Does anyone know what the occasion was?
The blonde girl with the white dress in the centre of the middle row is Colin Narramore's mother's sister - Nellie Relph.

Here is a picture of boys "climbing a tree!".
Billy Baines is on top, David Mathewman is halfway up, Alan Young (half hidden) is laughing his head off, Neville Atkinson looks as though he is waiting to catch Billy.
Vera Robinson is there with the arms folded and Alan Young's Mam is trying to see who is winning.
Probably 1951 or 52?
