Coach Road Bomb
Grandpa Jim used to tell the story of when a bomb dropped in the field in front of the house. According to him, he was sat in the front room overlooking the field when the blast from the bomb knocked his pipe out of his mouth taking his front teeth with it and knocked him off his chair into the hall way. Dazed he heard a heavy bump, bump, bump coming down the stairs and thought it was some explosive device. It was, however, just a very heavy vase that survived the experience unscathed and which we still had many years later along with all the rest of Grandpa’s teeth! By Su Buckingham-Rees
