Who are Cambois Rowing Club?
We are a varied group, representing all ages, both sexes and various levels of rowing ability and experience.
First let’s take a look at just a few of the men members.
|
Norman Howitt
Norman is the key man; not just because he is the President of the Club but because he lives and breathes Cambois ARC. Every week he freely gives many hours of his time to serve the Club from coaching the youngsters to keeping the boathouse clean and tidy. And when he gets the opportunity he still performs impressively as an oarsman.

Winners at Henley Veterans’ Regattas 2000 and 2001
 | The composite Cambois/Berwick coxed four, taking to the water before winning the Veteran E (average age over 55) event at the Millennium year Henley Veterans’ Regatta, included John Matthews (Club Chairman) at stroke, the formidable Arthur Wood at 3 and Milne Hunt, hidden in the cox’s seat.
On 15th July 2001, this crew went on to repeat their Henley win of the previous year as well as reaching the final of the Veteran D event for which younger crews were eligible.

Cambois Captain is Jon Noble
 | | Jon Noble has been a loyal member of the Club for about ten years. He lives in Bedlington and enjoys rowing in all types of crew boat but is most often seen on the river in his single scull. We show him here competing in the Wansbeck Long-Distance sculling race. |
