About Campain. Campain is a Durham-based charity and voluntary organisation dedicated to helping chronic pain sufferers, as well as their carers and families. Campain was founded by Mary Hawgood in April 2001 after she discovered that there is little support available locally for those in chronic pain. Organisation Structure: Campain is made up of a committee of volunteers and one employee, the Service Organiser. Our Aims: To encourage self-help in pain management for our members. To work towards the improvement of existing pain management services. What can we offer? Meetings Regular meetings every two months at County Hall, Durham, where we often have a guest speaker. This is also forum for people to come along, get to know each other and exchange ideas. Books We have a good selection of books about pain management and alternative therapies which can be borrowed free of charge. Newsletter We publish a quarterly newsletter, ‘Campain News’. ‘Pain Call’ Telephone Help Line Campain has its own telephone help line, ‘Pain Call’.
