Dickie Dawkins and Mrs Craddy are two persons known at this moment. Could anyone point them out? The ladies' fashionable dress suggest the forties perhaps?

Blackpool Trip about 1950

We believe this is a 'Katie Coates' Trip' - a well known organiser of Blackpool Trips - and pictured here is Mrs Nicolson peeping between the couple on the left.
Mrs Moy is in the rear, and her grandaughter Violet Wilde sitting in the front with Katie Coates just behind - and many others waiting to be named. Bob Turner was the driver and is pictured at the rear of the group with his wife.

A Trip to the Races

A Trip to the Races

Pictured here are my three Uncles Tommy, Johnny and Michael Traynor who loved horse-racing - on their way with their friends to the Ebor - no doubt - to win a packet.

In the foreground looking very happy is Johnna McAulliffe and behind him wearing cap is Joe O'Neill. Brian Cave is second left.
The bus driver in the window is Eddie Hoggett.

Picture here are Mrs Winifred Fox, her daughter Veronica Fox aged 6; Mrs Wilde and children Violet and Ivor Wilde and Mrs Moy sitting front right

Here's an unusual postwar postcard photograph advertising Blackpool's delights, with the faces of Collin and Mary Whiles of 36 Bessemer Street superimposed in the centre. It was their favourite holiday resort.

It is possible that these gentlemen have stopped at a public house before reaching their ultimate destination - likely to be York Races I imagine. Roll Turner's Trip to Aintree c 1949

Roll Turner's Trip to Aintree c 1949 - Courtesy of Chris Shakespeare now in Canada.

Looking through the bus trip section and I remembered this photo. Most of the Rollturners are from Grangetown and local areas, as we all worked at Cleveland and my father Dave Shakespeare (Shaky), ran this trip for many years from the rail mill roll shop from 1948-60s. This is taken about 1948-49.

Names I remember , Alan Baxtram, Jack Carr, David Jones( roll designer), Tommy Ritchie, Bobby Clarke, Bernie Conway, Ted Harrison, Willie Duncan, Ernie Butler.

Chris Shakespeare would be happy to hear from anyone from the past. e-mail address is ednadales@rogers.com
