Grangetown YCW Club c 1960
 | Grangetown YCW Club c 1960
Formed about this time, Grangetown YCW gained many members and from small beginnings in the Farm School eventually occupied rooms above a shop in Whitworth Road/Laing Street and later the old Unity Club in Victoria Road.
It had a number of creditable football teams which inspired the likes of Jimmy Meskill and Jimmy Lawson and occasionally beat their rivals Grangetown Boys Club in League matches.
It also inspired a number of young members to enter local politics and take up careers in Youth Work and teaching. At one time it was the largest YCW section in the country and the pride of the National YCW scene. Another Grangetown success run by young people for young people. |

Hello I have just visited your site and saw you were in need of old photos. I have found one of me and my sister with my father Ken and our next door neighbour Tommy (Tot) Bennet. This was taken outside of 33 Laing st circa 1961.Our house along with Tot`s were the only two in the street to be painted brick red and cream- Lord knows where the paint came from. |

It's hard to believe that this image is part of history. The photographer has captured two redundant vehicles in one shot - prams and trams. Well done to the photographer! |
