The O'Neill Wedding 1935

The O'Neill Wedding 1935 - Family Album

John O'Neill married Winnie Traynor whilst they were away in London working. He worked for Ford's Motor Company, she as a maid in a rich London home. The ceremony was performed by Fr John Heenan - later Cardinal Heenan - who played football alongside John in the local Soccer Team. He tried to protect Fr Heenan after he'd suffered a particularly nasty scithing tackle from a ginger-haired bully. He was quite prepared to lay into him after the game - until he saw the big smile on ginger's face as he put on HIS dog collar. He was also a priest and knew Fr Heenan well.

I was sent this photo some time back, of Michael Meskill and Mary Ann Reynolds wedding in 1937. My uncle Henry McElvaney is the best man. I'm afraid I don't know any of the others, but I'm sure some of your Grangetown readers will recognise the faces. It could be worth placing on your excellent website. Good luck,
Eugene
Hello Eugene & Carole,

Greetings to you from Sydney. As I visit the 'communigate' site often, I noticed you placed the picture of my grandparents wedding. I can tell you who all the people are, if you are interested.

The only person I know is my Aunt Kathleen. She lives in Normanby. My Aunt Dorrie lives in Canada.
Best wishes to you and your family.
