Welcome to Wear Valley Carers
 | The Wear Valley Carers Initiative is an organisation that provides information and support to those who care for others. We help to look after the carer by:
OFFERING THEM SUPPORT AND ADVICE ON CONDITIONS AND ILLNESSES THAT THEIR LOVED ONE MAY SUFFER.
GIVING THEM SUPPORT AND SOMEONE THEY CAN TALK TO IN CONFIDENCE.
HELPING THEM TO FILL IN ANY APPLICATION FORMS (e.g. Benefit forms)
ARRANGING EVENTS FOR THEM TO COME ALONG TO SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE A BREAK.
Our organisation is specifically for carers. We are there to help the carer, not the person who is being cared for! |

Who Are Carers?
You are a carer if you help a friend with:
# Personal care
# Shopping
# Help to move around
# ...or just keeping an eye on them
Carers can be:
# From Any Background
# Any Age
# Any Sex
CARERS ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED AND CERTAINLY UNDERVALUED.
...So if you think you ARE a carer, why not contact our Support Workers for further information, or just for a chat.

Our helpful and friendly staff are always happy to help.

DEB TOWARD: Information, Training and Support Worker.
Whether you pop into the office, meet them in the street, expectedly or unexpectedly, whatever your concerns they will always be taken seriously and you will always be listened to.
Our support workers are available to give home visits to those who need extra support at hard times, who may not be able to attend the group meetings or who are unable to get to the office.
