About Us.......
Aristocat Rescue was launched on the 1st January 2003, by a few dedicated cat lovers.
Being previously with another rescue centre for over 15 years we have plenty of experience of cat rescue.
We have rescued and rehomed many cats, some have been strays which, were living rough under hedges and in sheds, others just wandering aimlessly about moving from one place to another, looking for food, or left behind to fend for themselves, when their owners moved house. Other cats have come in as a result of road traffic accident. Some have been unwanted, their owners no longer willing to keep them, usual reasons given are allergy, new baby, house move, partnership break up. These cats are the hardest to rehabilitate, they don’t know what they have done wrong, why they are no longer wanted, they lose their self-respect and can get very depressed. The older they are the longer it takes to restore their confidence, and for them to regain their self-respect and to know that they are loved and wanted.
All our cats are checked by a vet and any medical treatment is given where necessary, all adult cats are neutered or spayed and all cats/kittens are flea treated and wormed.
In July 2003 Aristocat Rescue became a Registered Charity.
Beginning from January 2005 Aristocat Cats and Kittens are Microchipped, and Blood Tested for F.I.V and F.E.L.V. and receive one vaccination against F.E.L.V. before being rehomed.
As well as homing, we also offer advice on cat related problems i.e.
- Integrating a second or subsequent cat, into a existing cat household.
- Cat soiling, which can be a major problem in any household.
- Feeding of cats and kittens.
- Flea and worm treatment.
- What age to get a cat neutered or spayed.
- Nursing and pregnant mums.
- Moving house with your cat.
- How to stop a cat from scratching furniture.
The only advice we cannot give is medical advice, please approach your vet immediately if your cat is ill or injured.
