Ways In Which You Can Help Us.

About Cat Rescue. We know that it can be upsetting, and sometimes distressing, to have a stray cat coming to be fed, or perhaps someone dies, or circumstances change and you can no longer keep your cat. This is usually the first point of contact people have with the rescue centres, they will relate their story, if the resuce centre can take the cat in, they will do so, if they are full, they may offer the telephone numbers of other rescue centres to try, at this point people take exception to the fact they are being told that the rescue centre is full, some people can turn quite nasty and abusive, informing the person from the rescue centre that they don`t care. This is NOT the case. Taking in any animal, they must have their own space, somewhere they can call their own, rescue centres can`t keep taking them in, without giving thought to the space that is available. Added to which all animals need time spending on them, time to have loves and cuddles, if you keep taking them in, then how much time and attention can each animal have? the answer is very simple, Not a lot. Other things that rescue centres have to consider are vets bills, Neutering, Spaying Testing for FELV and FIV, Vaccinating and microchipping are routine things, but what about illness, cost of operations, medicines etc. All need money, money that the rescue centre has to raise, helped by the very kind people who give donations. Locally, we have two cat rescue centres, no longer operating, this has a knock on effect with other rescue centres, as the cats these two rescue centres would have taken in, has now to be absorbed by the remaining rescue centres, who were operating at full, before the closure of the two rescue centres. So please, when you contact a rescue centre, and they say that they are full, and either offer you a place on their waiting list, or give you the number of another rescue centre, they are not trying to fob you off, they are trying to HELP YOU. So instead of getting cross with the rescue centres, why don`t you volunteer to help them, I`m sure they will welcome you with open arms. By doing this, it will enable the rescue centres to help more cats and kittens, and give you a new outlook on animal rescue centres. Fundraisers: We are looking for people to help with our fundraising activities, ie. Helping to man stalls at table-tops, car-boot sales, help at our various fairs once a month, or take one of our collecting tins and place it in your office or shop. Foster Homes: We are looking for people to foster Aristocat Rescue cats and kittens, if you have a spare room, ie. bedroom, and have spare time to give to looking after cats and kittens, we’d love to hear from you.
