This is REMAP Cleveland

We are a local Panel of REMAP, a National Charity which works to improve the quality of life for disabled people by designing and making, free of charge, technical aids and appliances which are not commercially available.

We work in close conjunction with Occupational Therapists and all our work
is in accordance with Annex 1 to the EU Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC)

REMAP, which has up to 100 Panels countrywide and a fellow Charity
in Scotland, REMAP Scotland, was started by an Engineer at ICI Billingham who had a sister suffering from polio, for whom he made technical aids.
There are now around 1500 practising members comprising professional engineers, technicians, craftspeople and healthcare experts
who all give their services free of charge.

REMAP is one of the most cost-effective Charities with a tiny HQ staff,
on which Panels can rely for publicity and practical help in difficult Cases.
The panels are all financially independent and raise their own funds.

The Cleveland Panel consists of practising Occupational Therapists
and Professional Engineers, most of whom are retired and work in their own amateur workshops using redundant or donated materials wherever possible
to make a wide range of useful devices for people with disabilities.
The Panel is always on the lookout for new volunteers with the necessary engineering, diagnostic and practical skills.

Originally supported by ICI, in recent years the Panel has become responsible for its own finances, and receives some support from the Cleveland Community Foundation.

Contributions are welcome! Both the Panels and HQ of REMAP welcome legacies, covenants, or other tax-efficient ways of giving.

Cleveland REMAP Panel is always glad to help anyone with a disability
which cannot be tackled with a commercially available device, or for whom such a device cannot be provided for reasons of cost.
