My name is Majorie Newton and I am Chairperson and Secretary for the society. We hold our meetings in St. Joseph's Hall in Leadgate at 7pm every second Monday in the month except for January and August. We aim to be a support group for people with a mental handicap and their families. About Us There has been a MENCAP society in Consett for over 42 years so we are not newcomers. We have raffles and various other fundraising events, to make money for things like outings and a party at christmas, in the past we have catered for over 200 people. We also have a Pie and Pea supper and Disco in the spring to which we invite most of the people with a mental handicap in Derwentside, together with their Parents or Carers. Can You Help? If you can help us in our fundraising, would like to attend our regular meetings or would like further details about the group, please contact us. We would be delighted to have your support.
