D.P.S. 2011-12 Season

WELCOME TO OUR 2011-2012 SEASON OF PIANO RECITALS This season we celebrate the anniversaries of both Liszt and Debussy - and we also celebrate the fact that we can continue to hold our recitals in the Darlington Arts Centre, a venue that is central to the cultural life of the town. The premium concert, to start the season, will be given by the well-known Japanese pianist Noriko Ogawa, who is devoting most of her recital to Debussy We also welcome back Helen Reid, and introduce Olivia Sham, Maria Marchant, Leeds prize-winner Alessandro Taverna, Adam Skoumal from Prague and Countess of Munster Trust Award winner Christopher Guild, in an exciting and thought provoking season. We are keeping the subscription at the same level as last year, though single ticket prices have had to be increased, making the subscription an even better bargain. The opportunity remains, as a member of the Piano Society, to buy a season ticket for Teesside Music Society at a reduced rate. We aim to present concerts of a high standard, and also arrange masterclasses for promising young local piano students which are free to both participants and audience. We could not do this without the help of our sponsors, advertisers, patrons, Darlington Borough Council, the Arts Centre staff and, not least, the support of you, our members and audience.
